In Tangible I’m front-end advisor, working alongside the teams during analysis and design phases to support and validate UI/UX choices and ensure they can express and maintain all their value during the development phase.
I’m also responsible for technology research and development and mentor.
I have a long experience in front-end architecture gained on very large high traffic websites and I have led development teams on projects such as Alitalia and Sky Deutschland.
I’ve been doing web development since 1995 and I’m a strong supporter of web standards and of universal access to information.
My training started spontaneously in 1980 when an Apple ][ appeared in my home and I self-taught myself how to program it.
During the fist half of the 90s I ran a BBS in FidoNET, an amateur telematic network that was a precursor to the Internet.
With the collapse of FidoNet caused by the Italian Crackdown and the almost simultaneous arrival of the Internet, my passion moved on the latter and in 1995 I founded the first company in Bologna dedicated solely to web development, guiding it for the next 18 years.
I learned the basis of front-end development peeking at already published websites and reading the few technical articles available at the time. Only later I honed it by consulting the W3C documentation and participating in conferences and workshops around the world.
In 2011, tired of having to go abroad in order to grow, I decided to give back to the community and I founded From the Front, the first Italian conference dedicated to front-end, being part of the organizing team for the first 4 editions.
During the first year, I held a workshop in English about Responsive Design & Progressive enhancement which was attended by more than 40 people.
Two years after I spoke at a panel on UX/UI design and accessibility with Luca Mascaro and Alessandro D'Agnano at Periferie Digitali.
In 2013 I founded Kerning Conference, the first Italian conference dedicated to typography and have been part of the organizing team for 2 editions.
That same year I agreed to lead the front-end team for the renovation of Sky Deutschland website, a project which involved 8 front-end developer for 18 months.
In 2014 I founded Modo, a company dedicated to front-end development where I kicked off the development team for the new Alitalia website and did consultancy on web performance for Sky Italy.
At the end of 2016, feeling the need to widen my professional horizons, I left Modo to get back to doing counselling and finally landed in Tangible where I found the perfect place to build on my experience.
